Hôtel Rochechouart

Paris, 2020

At no. 55 boulevard de Rochechouart, the Hôtel Rochechouart banner flies. A Pigalle heritage at the foot of Montmartre, opposite the Sacré-Coeur, a stone’s throw from avenue Trudaine and rue des Martyrs. A private 8-storey house that was already famous in the late 20s, attracting travellers, Parisians, intellectuals and stars to its floors and restaurant, as well as to the many art galleries in the area.

We created a visual identity inspired by the Galerie Pigalle, which was a stone’s throw from the hotel. The logo’s lettering echoes that of the art magazines of the time, and the symbol uses a typography with two hunts, characteristic of the ’30s. We also collaborated with Tiffany Bouelle, a Franco-Japanese painter and visual artist who has combined the Festen set with a series of curvaceous watercolors inspired by the shapes of buildings and Art Deco. For the brasserie, a true heritage of the great Parisian institutions, we wanted to find all the elements that make them so charming: plates with piping, elegant menus and beautiful matches…
