O.E – La Dolce Vita
Rome, 2024
In designing the monogram for Orient Express La Dolce Vita, I drew on the rich Art Deco heritage associated with Orient Express, while infusing distinct touches of the 60s and 70s to reflect the train aesthetic designed by Milan-based decorating duo Dimore Studio.
The starting point for my inspiration was the emblematic monogram of the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons Lits, a tribute to the Art Deco elements that defined the golden age of train travel. However, to add a modern touch and evoke the essence of La Dolce Vita, I incorporated design elements from the 60s and 70s, an era synonymous with bold elegance and casual sophistication. I also drew inspiration from old Italian train tickets with their distinctive blue stripe down the center to add a nostalgic dimension.
This subtle visual reference also recalls the timeless charm of Italy, contributing to the harmonious fusion of past and present in the monogram.
